College of Education Moderators
Presentation Moderator: Carrice Cummins, Ph.D., Professor of Curriculum, Instruction, and Leadership at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA, is a specialist in Reading/Language Arts. She has 43 years experience as a classroom teacher, early childhood director, principal, district curriculum supervisor, consultant, and university professor. She chaired the LA Reading Leadership Team and served on the Governor’s Harvard Institute for Statewide Literacy Initiatives Team, as well as numerous LA State Department of Education literacy committees. She is the Past President of the International Literacy Association (ILA) (2012-13) and currently serves as a member of the IRA Teacher Education Research Team. She has co-authored several literacy books, developed two national staff development comprehension workshops, published articles, and made numerous literacy presentations nationally and internationally. She is the mother of two grown children and the Mema to three gorgeous grandchildren.

Discussion Group Moderator: Kimberly Kimbell-Lopez, Ed.D., Professor of Curriculum, Instruction, and Leadership at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA, has expertise in reading and technology. She has over 30 years experience as a classroom teacher and university professor. She currently teaches literacy course as well as courses focused on technology integration. During her time as an educator, she has provided professional development workshops across the state focusing on vocabulary, comprehension, and writing. Kim has also written texts on literacy strategies, reading comprehension, and connecting traditional literature in reading and writing workshop. She is the mother of two grown children who were graduates of A.E. Phillips and Ruston High School. |
Discussion Group Moderator: Dr. Ric Shrubb, Associate Professor of Curriculum, Instruction, and Leadership at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA, was born in Kane, Pennsylvania; joined the U.S. Army after graduating from high school; and graduated from Lee University in Tennessee after his honorable discharge. After graduating with a BA in English in 1983, he earned an MA in Literature from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1987; a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1992; and an MBA in Public Sector Management from William Carey University in 1994.
