Children's ChoicesIn addition to our work with improving teacher preparation, the Clinical Residency Center is proud to promote children's literacy as one of five review sites for the Children's Choice Book Awards. A joint project of the Children's Book Council(CBC) and the International Literacy Association (ILA), Children's Choices Book Awards allows students from across the United States to review nearly 1,000 books per year and vote on which ones are their favorites. Those that students enjoy most are included on the annual Children's Choices reading lists.
The Children's Choices Library at Louisiana Tech University is a joint partnership between the College of Education and TEAM Model schools. Dr. Amy Vessel, CRRC Director, currently serves as chair of the 2020 ILA Children's Choices Committee. The CRRC maintains a collection of the most current Children's Choice winners. With the addition of new books to the CRRC, previous year collections are rotated out and into the College of Education's Student Resource Center/Library, where they are made available to faculty, students, and teachers across our partner districts. 2019-2020 Louisiana Tech University - Dr. Amy Vessel, Chair, Children's Choices Program 2018-2019 Louisiana Tech University - Dr. Amy Vessel, Co-Chair, Children's Choices Program 2017-2018 Children's Choice Partners - Jackson Parish Schools, Monroe City Schools, and A.E.
